The MORONGO COMMUNE is a short-term rental property with two luxury homes in the High Desert. We’ve created elevated spaces for vacationers to reflect, reset and create, overlooking the San Jacinto Mountains. Our retreat in Morongo Valley lies along the western edge of the Mojave Desert and near the northern edge of the Coachella Valley, it’s up the road from Big Morongo Canyon Preserve and only a short drive to Joshua Tree National Park.
Inspired by clean lines, mediterranean hardscape, desert landscape and natural light, our team has reimagined raw land to develop a home away from home. Achieving timeless design requires a perfect balance of opposing elements, whether it's industrial and organic, vintage and contemporary, or neutral and bold. This home implements elevated design with Passive House principles for enduring efficiency, balanced aesthetic and functionality.
Passive House is a set of building principles that focus on maximizing the energy efficiency of a home. The goal of Passive House design is to create a building that uses very little energy for heating and cooling, and does so in a way that is environmentally friendly and sustainable.
Our Passive House home is designed to be extremely well-insulated and airtight, with a high-performance envelope that minimizes heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer in one of the harshest environments in Southern California.
The environmental impact of Passive House principles in home development is significant. By using less energy for heating and cooling, Passive House buildings have a much lower carbon footprint than traditional buildings. They also use fewer natural resources, such as fossil fuels, and produce less pollution and waste. In addition, the use of natural ventilation and efficient systems helps to improve indoor air quality, creating a healthier living environment.
